We are excited to launch the design for a sculpture dedicated to the Chinese Labour Corps, an artwork that poignantly captures their arduous journey—leaving their homeland and ultimately returning to "Mother Earth." This sculpture symbolises their immense sacrifice and pivotal contributions to a multitude of tasks during World War I.

Evening Highlights:

  • Historical Conversations: Engage in enriching discussions about the forgotten history and significance of the Chinese Labour Corps.
  • Artist Presentation: Gain insight from the artist behind this moving sculpture as they reveal the design and the inspiration behind it.
  • Mark O’Neill launching his latest book “The Island” and signing copies
  • Drinks Reception with Canapés: Enjoy a sophisticated drinks reception featuring a selection of fine canapés.
  • Silent Auction: Participate in a silent auction to support ECBF.

Guest speaker of the event is Mark ONeill, a distinguished author and journalist who has been living in Hong Kong and mainland China since 1978. Mark will share his profound knowledge about the Chinese Labour Corps, drawn from his acclaimed book, The Chinese Labour Corps. He will also discuss his experiences writing about Chinese history and cities, and will be signing copies of his latest book, The Island.

Join us for an evening dedicated to honouring the memory of the Chinese Labour Corps. Learn more about this often-overlooked chapter of history and play a vital role in supporting the creation of a lasting tribute.
